Press Statement by New Hong Kong Tunnel Company Limited

(Hong Kong, 20 May 2005) The New Hong Kong Tunnel Company Limited (¡§NHKTC¡¨) is pleased to announce two additional promotional programs effective 0000 hour Monday 23 May 2005 through midnight Friday 30 September 20051 :
 
1. Goods vehicles' extra axle for only HK$10!
 
  Goods vehicles with more than two axles will only be charged HK$10 for each additional axle, a reduction of HK$15 per additional axle.
 
2. Non-franchised single-decker bus loyalty program
 
  After every 10 trips made through the autotoll at the Eastern Harbour Tunnel within the same week2 from Monday to Sunday by the same non-franchised single-decker bus, the next trip of the same bus in the same week will be free.
 
  This offer only applies to non-franchised single-decker buses using autotoll to pay for the toll charge. Manual toll payments are unchanged.
 
In addition we are pleased to announce:
 
3. Empty taxi3 toll implementation date postponed!
 
  The new toll for empty taxis was to be implemented on 1 July 2005, but this date will be postponed until 1 October 2005. Until then the empty taxis will continue to pay HK$15 a trip when paying at the manual tollbooths.
 

The Eastern Harbour Tunnel offers its customers a fast and efficient service to cross between Kowloon and Hong Kong 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and has done so since its opening in 1989, making it an essential part of Hong Kong's transport system.

 In the event of disputes arising out of any of these promotions the decision of NHKTC shall be final.

 The cumulative number of trips for each week will be calculated from 0000 hour on Monday to 2400 hours on Sunday. If a non-franchised single-decker bus cannot cumulate sufficient trips to earn the free trip or enjoy the free trip within the same week, the cumulated number of trips or the free trip in that week cannot be carried forward to another week.

 Empty taxi refers to a taxi without any passenger and with the light box on its top illuminated.
